PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pilot burner improved in durability and combustion stability and having a high degree of ignition reliability. SOLUTION: In the pilot burner 1 provided with a Kanthal rod 2 on the central part for electric spark ignition and an ultraviolet flame-detector 14 on the rear end of the burner. In the burner, there are further provided a combustion air-flow tube 3 on the periphery of the Kanthal rod 2, and a fuel-gas flow tube 5 having a swirler 6 with a helix angle of 20-50 deg. on the periphery of the tube 3. The velocity of the combustion air-flow is set in the range of 10-60 m/s, and the velocity of the fuel gas flow is set 1/2 the velocity of the combustion air flow. Thus combustion stabilization is improved, the degree of ignition reliability becomes high, and the flame detection is improved.
