PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of expending or shortening control pulses of the same number in respective scanning or recording periods by one or plural periods tM of a master clock. SOLUTION: Scanning/recording units 24 and 26 periodically scan/expose an original picture/recording material 4 and a wagon 8 is fed forward along a straight line which is perpendicular to a line by using a drive assembly. The drive assembly has an electric motor 16 and a device 10 for converting rotational motion to the rectilinear motion of the wagon. The number of revolutions of the electric motor is determined by the frequencies of the control pulses generated by the frequency division by the coefficient of an integer to enable the easy regulation of the drive system to the wagon supporting the scanning/ recording units 24 and 26 in a duplicating device with high accuracy.
