PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for mounting components by which the size of the entire facility can be reduced, noise and vibration can be reduced and the reliability of the facility can be increased. SOLUTION: Since the apparatus for mounting components is provided with a closed loop track 6, heads 5, parts supplying apparatus 8 and a positioning apparatus 7 for objects on which parts are mounted, the weight of the heads 5 is considerably lighter than that of rotary heads or the like provided for a conventional apparatus for mounting components. Accordingly, noise and vibration generated by the facility can considerably be reduced in comparison with the conventional apparatus. Furthermore, by proving the apparatus with a first recognition apparatus 31 and a second recognition apparatus 41 for recognizing the state of holding of a component 2 by the first recognition apparatus 31 and then further recognizing a substrate 1 and the component 2 by the second recognition apparatus 41, the accuracy of correction of the mounting position on the basis of the recognition information can be improved in comparison with conventional apparatus. |
