PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide picture communication equipment facilitating transmission operation in the case of dividing the facing-page original of an A4 size into a left page and aright page and transmitting it in the A4 size. SOLUTION: This picture communication equipment is provided with a detection means for detecting a shadow at a center part of a transmitting original set to the equipment. In the case of detecting a shadow at the center part of the transmitting original, the equipment reads the original divided into the left page and the right page and transmits it.
