PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the reliability and cooling efficiency of a refrigerating machine by circulating impurities in an impurity recovering circulation path 48 and catching them in the middle at operation stoppage of a refrigerating machine 10. SOLUTION: For a sterling refrigerating machine 10, space 12 on working chamber side where an expansion piston 14 having a phase difference of 90 deg. with a compressive piston and space 16 on driving chamber side where a drank drive 20 to drive the expansion piston 14 through a connecting rod 18 is arranged are separated, and also a pressure regulator 36 which has buffer chambers 32 and 34 divided by shutoff member 30 is connected to the middle between the space 12 on working chamber side and the space 16 on driving chamber side by pipes 38 and 40, and further the pipe 38 is provided with an impurity recovering circulation path 48 which has an impurity remover 46 through opening and closing valves 42 and 44, and an intake fan 50 is arranged on the inlet side of this circulation path 48, and the opening and closing valves 42 and 44 are shut off at operation of the refrigerating machine 10, and the opening and closing valve 42 and 44 are opened at operation stoppage of the refrigerating machine 10 so as to operate the suction fan 50, whereby the impurities contained in the working gas are caught with the impurity remover 46.
