The gas accumulation venting balloon (10) is movable between at least an automatic position in which the balloon is inside a mechanical ventilating enclosure (13) and a manual position in which it is outside the enclosure. A partial automatic operating system allows the balloon to be inserted into or extracted from the enclosure. The balloon has a seal (12) which fits onto the enclosure when the balloon is placed inside it. The enclosure is connected to a gas pressure circuit (14) varying the pressure inside the enclosure. The anesthetic respirator has a gas circuit which includes: (a) a breather branch (1), with gas supply circuit (4) and/or escape valve (7), feeding an anesthetic gas mixture to a patients (P) face connector (5), which may be a mask or tracheal probe; (b) an exhaling branch (2) for feeding gas containing CO2, from the patient. Both branches form a gas loop circuit (3); (c) a manual ventilation balloon, and; (d) a mechanical ventilation enclosure.
