PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle sensing apparatus which positively carries out detection of an obstacle without requiring waterproofing measures for a sensor portion. SOLUTION: The obstacle sensing apparatus is comprised of a tube 12 and a diaphragm. The tube 12 is formed of an elastic material, and arranged at a front end of an opening/closing body such as a shutter 2 in a manner extending along its longitudinal direction. The diaphragm is connected to the tube 12 so that gas is transported form the tube, and detects volumetric change of the tube. During closing operation of the opening/closing body, if the tube is pressed by making contact with an obstacle on a track of the opening/closing body, the volumetric change is detected by the diaphragm, to thereby carry out detection of the obstacle. Preferably, the cross section of the tube is of an almost circular shape. Both ends of the tube are pinched by clipping members, to thereby achieve sealing of the tube. Further, both the ends are extended into a track guiding rail of the shutter to be housed therein.
