Fire extinguisher comprises a vessel (1) for the extinguishing agent, e.g. powder, under pressure or to be put under pressure with a riser (3) extending near to the base of the vessel to apply the powder. A body (5) showing a maintenance display is arranged on the base of the vessel and opposite-lying areas of its walls (6) have an outer distance at each point which is greater than the distance between the opening (4) of the riser and the base of the vessel.
