The adapter has a housing (18,20) which is provided with a mounting flange (22) that can be screwed to a switching cubicle wall (26), an office network plug connecting part (10) and an industrial plug connecting part (14) whose contacts are joined together. The housing has a locking device (40) with which an industrial plug connector can be locked to the industrial plug connecting part. A screen (16) is provided which extends from the office network plug connecting part up to the industrial plug connecting part.
