PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method that lessens a cutting load in broaching work, saves energy and is easy on the environment and efficient. SOLUTION: A helical-gash broach cutter 1 for internal machining with cutting edges 11 arranged along helical gashes 12 formed in the periphery of a main body is used in high-speed broaching with a cutting speed for broaching of 20 to 60 m/min. The base material of the cutting edge portion is powdered high-speed steel or high-speed tool steel with an equivalent wear resistance thereto, and the cutting edges are provided with a TiAlN-system multilayer coating. Nozzles 3a and 3b not fewer than the threads of a plurality of helical gashes 12a and 12b are disposed to supply coolant to the helical gashes that they face respectively when the broach is stopped, and machining is performed with coolant thus supplied.
