PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxirane compound from an olefin and an organic peroxide excluding ethylbenzene hydroperoxide in the presence of a fixed catalyst layer, which has excellent characteristics comprising the prevention of the runaway of a reaction accompanied by heat generation and the stable execution of the reaction in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the oxirane compound from an olefin and an organic peroxide excluding ethylbenzene hydroperoxide in the presence of a fixed catalyst layer is characterized by the followings (1) to (4). (1) The catalyst layer is divided into at least (n) divisions [(n) is an integer of >=2]. (2) The fresh organic peroxide is divided and fed into the entrances of the catalyst layers, respectively. (3) The fresh olefin is fed into the entrance of the first catalyst layer. (4) The reaction product flowed out from the exit of the No. (n) catalyst layer is fed into the entrance of the No. n+1 catalyst layer.
