PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-speed continuous paper feed by sufficiently reducing an interval between preceding paper and following paper in both-side printing. SOLUTION: A paper feeder 5 feeds paper 3, which is stored through its front end into a switch-back passage 17 provided in a carrier passage 16 ranging from a paper cassette 4 to a printer engine 2, to the printer engine 2 after switched back so that the rear end of the paper 3 goes ahead as the front end. The paper feeder 5 is controlled so that the preceding paper 3 to be fed out and the following paper 3 to be stored in the switch-back passage 17 are superposed with each other at least in part in the switch-back passage 17. A return carrier passage 70 returns the paper 3 after image formation with the printer engine 2 to be stored through its front end into the switch-back passage 17. |
