PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of performing a high speed operation by particularly using a laser beam in relation to a peripheral device of a com puter. SOLUTION: This print starting device comprises a synchronism selecting means that instructs a group of image forming means to start printing after a synchronizing signal is detected and selects the synchronizing signal outputted from the group of image forming means. The print starting device further comprises a starting time period setting means that can perform a print starting operation by the selected arbitrary one synchronizing signal which is selected by a central processor and sets a period of time until generation of a trigger and a start time period measuring means for measuring the period of time until generation of the trigger. A central processing means sets an arbitrary starting time to the starting time period setting means, thereby achieving accurate starting of the printing and the synchronizing operation of the whole device.
