<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally print a bar code or the like even when a line head has a defective dot. SOLUTION: An operating condition of each of dot elements forming a line head is checked by each element and information about an operable or inoperable condition of each dot element is stored in a memory. When print data is inputted, it is checked whether or not each of dots to be printed in the print data is positioned on the dot element in the inoperable condition. When a dot to be printed is in a position of the dot element in the inoperable condition, the print data is shifted in a direction of the line to the extent that the dots to be printed are out of the position of the dot element in the inoperable condition. The print data which is shifted in the direction of the line is outputted to the line head to print on a print medium.</p> |
