PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of preventing contamination due to waste ink overflowing a capping means. SOLUTION: An ink receiving recessed section 8 is formed on a cap holder 9 at the side of a printing region adjacent to a cap member 7. Even when, for example, the waste ink reserved in the capping means overflows the capping means in a condition that the capping means is away from a nozzle forming face of a recording head after a cleaning operation, the waste ink can be effectively collected to the ink receiving recessed section 8. As a result, it is possible to avoid a problem that an adequate operation is inhibited when a mechanism for vertically moving the capping means is contaminated by the waste ink. |
