Reel for electric fence wire, reel spring loaded to automatically retract wire

Electric fence wire 14 is wound onto reel 30. The reel is spring loaded so that the wire will be automatically be rewound onto the reel when the wire has been unreeled. The reel is contained in a housing 24. The free end of the wire has a conducting hook 70 that can be attached to another electric fence wire. The free end also has insulating handle 68 so that the wire can be safely unwound from the reel without the user being shocked. The end of the wire fixed to the reel is connected to an electric fence energiser by contacts 42 and 60, and wire 56. The reel is intended to be attached to a gatepost, so that the wire may be extended across a gate opening. If a person wishes to open the gate to pass through it, then the wire may be retracted from the gate opening without shocking the user.
