PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably start and oscillate a high output laser which is about 100 mW or more. SOLUTION: In changing a laser diode from a non-oscillated state to an oscillated state, the laser diode is operated so that laser currents Id can be gradually increased under ACC control (reference to points of time t1-t2). Finally, the laser diode is operated so that the laser currents Id can reach a target light quantum value under the APC control (reference to points of time t3-t4). Thus, it is possible to gradually increase the laser currents without allowing the laser currents to rapidly flow at the time of starting laser oscillation, and to safely start the laser.
