PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly execute a preprocessing operation and a read operation and to generate a plurality of kinds of pixel output within one frame. SOLUTION: A pixels processing part for preprocessing the pixel output by the pixel unit is provided and the preprocessing is conducted during the read operation of the pixel output. As a result, at the time of read operation, the pixel output preprocessed by the pixel processing part is present and the pixel output including an exposure part after the preprocessing is present in a photodetector. For the plurality of kinds of the pixel output, an image pickup time lag is one frame period or less and a problem due to the image pickup time lag hardly occurs in an image processing thereafter. By taking the difference of the plurality of kinds of the pixel output, the moving body image of a high-speed moving object is reliably generated. Also, the plurality of kinds of the pixel output are parallely outputted and exposure bracketing and slow motion photographing are made possible. Further, the plurality of kinds of the pixel output are synthesized and the D range of the pixel output is enlarged.
