Water-redispersible film-forming polymer powders prepared from ethylenically unsaturated monomers and containing naphthalenesulphonates

This water-redispersible powder composition comprises a water-soluble film-forming polymer prepared from vinyl or acrylic ester monomers, and a naphthalenesulphonate of general formula (I). In formula (I); X and X' are OH or NH2; Y represents SO3-M+, wherein M is an alkaline metal; x = 0, x' = 0 and x + x' = 1; and y = 0, y' = 0 and y + y' = 1. The water-redispersed composition may be used as an additive to hydraulic binders, adhesives, cements, paper coatings and paints.
