PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the same that has high cycle characteristics maintaining a high initial capacity by adding an element. SOLUTION: This is a positive electrode active material for non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, in which the lithium manganese complex oxide as expressed in the formula LiMn2-yMyO4 (wherein M is at least one kind of a metal element having an average three valence or less) satisfies the following condition for y; 3.52<(7-zy)/(2-7)<3.56, wherein M's average number of valence is z. As a metal element as expressed as M, chrome, nickel, cobalt, aluminum, magnesium, iron are listed up. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery uses the above non-aqueous electrolyte active material for positive electrode. |
