PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal with excellent operability and its operating method. SOLUTION: The portable terminal is provided with a fingerprint data input means 208 to input fingerprint data, a means 201 to fetch the inputted fingerprint data as an image data and to generate feature point extraction data by extracting a feature point of a fingerprint from the image data, a means 202 to preliminarily store feature point extraction data from specified fingerprint data and a means to compare and collate the stored feature point extraction data with the feature point extraction data generated from the inputted fingerprint data. The fingerprint data input means 208 is incorporated in a part of a job dial 203.
