<p>932,307. Gas/liquid contact apparatus. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Sept. 28, 1961 [Sept. 30, 1960], No. 34948/61. Class 55 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] The openings in a bubble-tray of a gas/liquid contact column are provided with valves comprising valve bodies positioned above the openings and supported in the lowest position by the upper surface of the tray, each valve having a guide member consisting of flexible wire elements e.g. steel wire, which grip the valve body and project downwardly through the opening and the lower ends of which are provided with stops to limit the upward travel of the valve. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the valve body 1 has the edge 2 bent downward and is fitted with two steel springs 3 and 3<SP>1</SP>, identical in shape. These springs clamp round the valve body at the four recesses 6 and extend downward at the sides of the valve body forming guide parts 4, 4<SP>1</SP> and 411 the ends of which are bent back outwardly to form stops 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> and 5<SP>111</SP> to limit the upward movement of the valve. The recesses 6 are formed by incisions in the periphery of the valve body 1, and the lugs formed may be bent downward to form stops by which means the valves rest on the tray surface. The valve may be inserted or withdrawn from the passage 9 by springing back the flexible wire members. The valve body may have an opening in the centre for fastening the ends of the elements not extended for guiding purposes. Exemplified are valves with guide members consisting of from one to four flexible wire elements. Specification 843,280 is referred to.</p> |
