PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface converting device, with which peripheral devices provided with the plural parallel host interfaces of different types can be connected to a host computer by one converting device, having high versatility and facilitated in handling. SOLUTION: This device has a reloadable memory 18 for holding the configuration information of peripheral devices while having a serial host interface for computer connection and a parallel host interface for peripheral device connection, the peculiar information of a peripheral device is read out of the device, the configuration information as a peripheral device to be held by the serial host interface is generated on the basis of this peculiar information and written in the memory 18 and corresponding to a configuration information request from the computer, contents in the memory 18 can be returned.
