PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the desired end-to-end characteristics of a network flow. SOLUTION: In an entry 12 of a packet flow 14 on a network 16, a monitor 10 finds the peculiar signature and input measuring data of respective sample data units and in an exit 22, a monitor 20 finds the peculiar signature and output measuring data of respective sample data units. A data correlator 18 collates the signatures of the entry and the exit and finds the correlative relation of entries from the respective monitors 10 and 20 and the end-to-end characteristics of the network flow are found from the input and output measuring data of matched entries.
