The procedure for sending short messages (SMS) to mobile networks uses a computer with SS7 connections capable of interrogating all the Home Location Registers (HLRs) of the country where portability of numbers is required. The computer comprises a cache memory for all the mobile subscribers of the country where portability is realised, in order to know which HLR to interrogate, without searching again, once it has been found once.
