A servo powered blind rivet gun has a vacuum pickup for the rivets and a pneumatic drive for the rivet action. The vacuum pickup is activated by a sensor (6) in the handgrip of the gun, preferably mounted on the front of the handgrip. The rivet action is initiated by a pistol grip control and has a failsafe interlock which inhibits the rivet action if the grip sensor is not operated. The vacuum line is further fitted with an on/off switch (8).
