The ball joint has a housing and a pivot pin mounted rotatably and displaceably in a bearing shell via a spherical bearing surface. The shell is fixed in the housing and the housing or pin is fixed to the suspension or steering in an electrically insulated manner. The housing and pin are connected into a potential difference measurement device by electrical contacting and the bearing surface and counter surface are mutually electrically isolated. The ball joint has a joint housing (1) and a pivot pin (2) mounted with a spherical bearing surface in a single or multiple part bearing shell to be rotatable and displaceable. The shell is fixed in the housing and the housing or pivot pin is fixed to the suspension or steering in an electrically insulated manner. The joint housing and pivot pin are connected into a potential difference measurement device (13) by electrical contacting (12,14) and the bearing surface and counter surface are mutually electrically isolated.
