The cap (1) covering a circular clamp-placement appliance is fixed to a central protuberance in the appliance when the counter-bearing is removed. The cap is atraumatically shaped, tapers in a distal direction, and has a hollow shaft (10) which is open at its proximal end (18). The cap holds at least the distal part of the central protuberance. The cap has a conical basic shape with obtuse distal part (6) and basic diameter (2) matching that of the clamp-magazine.
