<p>A package assembly is disclosed in which an article (A) is supported in a suspended position in an outer container (400) during shipping. The packaging assembly includes a plurality of inflated chambers (312) interconnected by inflated passageways (314). Each chamber (312) has an opening (370) in a central region thereof, with a top portion projecting upwardly and outwardly from the opening and a bottom portion projecting downwardly and outwardly from the opening (370). The chambers (312) are assembled on the article (A) so that each corner of the article (A) is received in the opening (370) in a corresponding chamber (312). When assembled in an outer container (400) so that the chambers (312) are aligned with the corners of the container (400), the chambers (312) define resilient columns of support (313, 317) projecting in all of the orthogonal directions of the container (400), thereby protecting the article (A) from an impact force in any direction.</p> |
