The seat belt arrangement comprises shoulder strap sections(30,32) connected to the vehicle(16) and extending from an upper section(20) of the seat close to the shoulders of the seat's occupant(12). End sections(62,66) of lap straps(74,85) are connected to respective points(64,68) on the vehicle, and the lap straps extend from the sides(22,24) of the seat and partially over the hips of the seat's occupant. A buckle mechanism(49) connects the first and second shoulder strap sections and first and second lap straps close to the waist of the occupant.
