Assembly measures the condition of a mixture of sludge and a flocculant inside a housing with a rotating impeller and sensor. The chamber has a rotating sector vane which in a first condition moves closely alongside the impeller, and in a second condition is moved away to form a filtrate sector with the sensor. The width of the slit (21) is defined by the impeller (5) and can be varied especially by a control element (25) mounted outside the housing (16) as required by the results of laboratory tests. The assembly is otherwise as described in prior claim . The control element is a knurled finger wheel fitted to a threaded shank moving axially through a threaded hole. The impeller is formed of a fixed (19) and sliding (20) parts.
