PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a large screen size having high adhesion strength and good display characteristics. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has an upper glass substrate (2) and a lower glass substrate (1) facing each other through a liquid crystal, and a sealing material (6) which adheres the upper and lower glass substrates in the peripheral part between the upper glass substrate and the lower glass substrate. The size of the effective display screen on the upper glass substrate is equal to or larger than an 18-inch screen and the adhesion width of the sealing material ranges 1.8 mm to 3.5 mm.
