METHOD FOR DETERMINING VEHICLE ROLLOVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a driver to more precisely recognize the degree of the possibility of vehicle rollover when determining whether there is a possibility of vehicle rollover according to the roll angle and roll angular velocity of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A threshold line S is set on a two-dimensional map whose parameters are the roll angleθand roll angular velocityωof the vehicle, and one determines that there is a possibility of vehicle rollover when a hysteresis line of the actual roll angleθand roll angular velocityωof the vehicle crosses the threshold line S from a non-rollover area on the side of an original point to a rollover area on the side opposite to the original point. A warning area is set within the non-rollover area and adjacent to the threshold line S and the driver is warned when the broken-line part of the hysteresis line H3 of the roll angleθand roll angular velocityωof the vehicle enters the warning area. On finding that the hysteresis line is ready to enter the rollover area, the driver tries to drive moderately.
