PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sound structure of a reactor vessel by minimizing the weight of a primary coolant, reducing the amount of materials, and lightening thermal conditions. SOLUTION: The reactor vessel 24 is composed of a spherical vessel part 22 and a cylindrical part 23, and a steam generator 45 containing a reactor core 38, a heat insulating layer 37, and a coil part 62 of an electromagnetic pump, and a lead coolant 41 are accommodated on the inside. Plural control rod driving mechanisms 34 passing through a rotating plug 31 blocking the upper opening of the reactor vessel 24 are installed. A control rod 76 is composed of an absorbing body 78 and a lower guide tube 77 containing the absorbing body 78. Bouyancy is utilized in a scram action of the control rod 76 to conduct rising operation to ensure the safety of a reactor.
