PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a retention of a liquid refrigerant in an evaporator when a multi-stage compressor is stopped. SOLUTION: A multi-stage compressing refrigerating system comprises first valve mechanisms 11A, 11B, 11C provided at a refrigerant input side of a low stage side compressing means to become a fully closed state in response to a backflow of the refrigerant of a predetermined amount to an evaporator 8 side, a second valve mechanism 12 provided at the refrigerant input side of the evaporator 8 to be opened or closed in cooperation with the opening/ closing operation of the mechanism 11A, and a third valve mechanism 13 provided at a refrigerant outlet side of a condenser 1 to be opened or closed in cooperation with the opening/closing operation of the mechanism 11B.
