PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical size measuring instrument with enhanced resolution. SOLUTION: This optical size measuring instrument A is equipped with a through-hole 31, bored at the center of a rotary disk 30 for passing a wire W therethrough, a measurement part comprising a light-projecting part 32 and a light-receiving part 33, these being disposed opposite to each other with the hole 31 put in between, and a dimension calculating part C, The receiving part 33 has a CCD line sensor 1. The calculating part C calculates photoreceptive intensity from the amount of light received by the sensor 1, calculates a photoreceptive intensity curve according to the calculated intensity, and calculates the size of the wire W by using the distance L between two points corresponding to the thresholds of the intensity curve.
