PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilator the power consumption of which can be reduced by effectively using the power of a solar battery. SOLUTION: This ventilator is provided with a ventilation fan 3 having a fan 1 and a motor 2, the solar battery 4 which produces output upon receiving solar radiation, and a controller 7 which operates the fan 3 by using the outputs of the solar battery 4 and a commercial power source 5. Since the fan 3 is operated by supplementing the output of the battery 4 with the output of the power source 5 when the output of the battery 4 is lower than a prescribed value, the used amount of the output of the power source 5 becomes smaller and the power consumption of this ventilator can be reduced.
