PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set for ink jet recording which gives an image retaining the quality for a long time and an ink jet recording method and a record using the same. SOLUTION: This ink set at least comprises a magenta ink and a cyan ink, each of them containing a water-soluble organic solvent. The content of a water-soluble organic solvent in the magenta ink is lower than that in the cyan ink. The ink set is used in the ink jet recording method and for obtaining the record.
