PURPOSE: To improve the functionability of a pointing device for operating a signal input in X-Y directions by a slide operation, while preventing the increase of the width of the pointing device, and to reduce the number of parts. CONSTITUTION: A pair of mobile objects 30A and 30B linearly moving in the X-Y directions, according to the slide operation of an operator 20 are housed in a case 10. A built-in substrate 40 is housed at the lower part of the mobile objects 30A and 30B. The mobile objects 30A and 30B are constituted of plate- shaped metallic parts 31A and 31B and resin parts 32A and 33A ad 32B and 33B mounted on both sides made of the mobile objects. The case 10 is constituted of an upper case 10a, made of resin and a lower case 10b made of a metal plate. Contactors 50A and 50B, which is allowed to slide into contact with the built-in substrate 40, are mounted on the resin parts 33A and 33B, and a volume can be constituted. Springs 60A and 60B for origin return are housed in the resin parts 33A and 33B. A press switch on the built-in substrate 40 is operated with an operating object 20.
