PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate printing defects between joined two heating substrates. SOLUTION: A plurality of discrete heating substrates 2 and 3 having heating resistor arrays 6 and 7 each comprised of heating resistors 5 formed in an array on a substrate are joined and arranged in a horizontal scanning X direction. At the same time, the heating substrates are made opposite to a platen 8 via a paper 9 as a printing medium. A printing face of the heating resistor array 7 of one discrete heating substrate 3 among the discrete heating substrates joined and arranged in the horizontal scanning direction is set to be always closer to the platen 8 than a printing face of the heating resistor array 6 of the other discrete heating substrate 2. Moreover, the one discrete heating substrate 3 is also inclined in a Y direction orthogonal to a plane direction of the horizontal scanning X direction so that the printing face of the heating resistor array 7 of the one discrete heating substrate 3 is always closer to the platen 8 than the printing face of the heating resistor array 6 on the other discrete heating substrate 2.
