PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium for surface readout, having high SNR and superior head levitating property and durability. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium is obtained by laminating at least a reflecting layer, a recording layer and a protective layer in this order on a substrate and disposing an underlayer, comprising a metal film of 0.5-50 nm thickness containing at least one or more elements selected from the group elements of IVA, VA and VIA of the periodic table between the substrate and the reflecting layer. |
