PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin processing device 11 which accurately concludes that a carrying means 25 is faulty. SOLUTION: A coin slot 12 is opened and closed by a coin slot opening/ closing means 16. Not only coins thrown in from the coin slot 12 are received and processed but also coins are discharged by a coin processing means 20. Coins discharged from the coin processing means 20 are received and are carried to a coin discharge outlet 4 by the carrying means 25 driven by a carrying motor. An overcurrent at the time of application of an overload to the carrying motor is detected by an overcurrent detection means. If the overcurrent of the carrying motor is detected continuously for a certain time by the overcurrent detection means, the carrying motor is stopped by a control means and the coin slot 12 is closed by the coin slot opening and closing means 16.
