PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid sample cell suitably usable for an upper surface irradiation type X-ray analysis method, a useful upper surface irradiation X-ray type analysis method using it, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A sample holding part 9 having an open top with a liquid sample 2 held therein is installed vertically inside a liquid receiving container 11 with an open top. In a condition that the sample holding part 11 is filled to the brim with the liquid sample 2, an X-ray transmitting sheet 20 is applied on top of the sample holding part 11.
