PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize automatic extending processing beyond the limit of the manageable maximum size at the time of managing a data base. SOLUTION: A process (module) being a DB automatic extension processing part 11 is added to an ORACLE (registered trademark) operating on a UNIX (registered trademark). The DB automatic extension processing part 11 which receives a DB automatic extension request telegraphic message 2 operates the automatic extension processing of a data base 4 by referring to a partition information table 8 for storing the information of the table space name of each partition, the number of data files stored in the table spaces, and the capacities of the table spaces, a data file information table 9 for storing data file names, table space names for storing the data files, the physical volume names of the table spaces, and the sizes of the data files or the like, and a disk array information table 10 for storing information related with the present disk array (physical disk) based on information included in the DB automatic extension request telegraphic message 2.
