The unit includes an upright post (3) carrying an information display panel (7), the post being mounted on a base plate (1). The base plate also carries a battery power supply unit (9) which is covered by a lockable cover (11). A conduit (12) connected the power supply housing to the foot of the post for cable connections. On top of the post there is a solar panel (6), to re-charge the battery. The modular assembly comprises an upright post (3) carrying an information display panel (7), the post being mounted on a base plate (1) which stands flat on the ground. The base plate also carries a battery power supply unit (9) which is covered by a lockable cover (11). A conduit (12) connected the power supply housing to the foot of the post for cable connections. On top of the post there is a solar panel (6), mounted at an inclined angle. This collects energy to provide electricity in order to re-charge the batteries mounted on the base plate housing. The display panel may be used for displaying a variety of messages, the content of which may be controlled remotely via a radio link.
