An injection cartridge containing a multicomponent resin is inserted into the hole (24) drilled into the wall (20). The fastener (26) is then driven into the cartridge, breaking its chamber walls, mixing the components, forcing them outward and encasing the fastener, securing it. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method of making a composite wall anchor. On a production machine with stepping rotor, the plug casing with multiple cavities and injection cartridge are separately manufactured by injection molding. The cartridge is then filled, simultaneously injecting a seal. Finally the filed cartridge is inserted into the plug casing and closed by the seal. Preferred features: The two-component resin produces a foam (22), its expansion filling and sealing the cavity. In an otherwise similar variant, a single component resin, comprising a foam under pressure, is used in place of the two-component plastic described. The cartridge carries a leading plastic plug with a hole through it. When screwed in, the fastening is self-tapping into the plug, and breaks the cartridge. The corresponding composite anchor, especially suitable for porus masonry, is also claimed. In one implementation, the single component resin expands considerably on air ingress. The cartridge may be enclosed by a plastic plug. The cartridge is in the leading end of the plug and is enclosed by it or projects from it. Variants are further detailed. The cartridge is separately claimed. Its filling may include pigments, dyes, aromatic agents or other materials of suitable consistency.
