A salt saturator for providing brine to regenerate base-exchange material comprises a tank (1) containing a thick layer of wet salt (2) covered with saturated brine (3) and from which brine is drawn off through a tubular filter lying parallel and close to the bottom of the tank, the filter comprising a slotted tube (4) sealed at its immersion end, the slotted portion being covered with two concentric fine mesh sleeves (6 and 7) separated by a packing of coarse polyethylene particles (8), the sleeves being retained by adhesive tape (9) and rubber bands (10) at their ends. Sleeves 6 and 7 may be of polyester fabric having, e.g. 32 meshes to the linear inch. |
