Air is sucked up through a suction-aperture (2) by a gas-pump (1). The air is pressed downwards by means of a first pressure chamber (6) through a fine-pored plate and or sheet (7), and a saline solution such as brine (8) into a second pressure chamber (9). The dried air is finally inhaled by a patient through an excess pressure valve (10) and outlet (22). The pressure difference between the two pressure chambers is measured by a system (20) and a pressure regulator (21) for adjusting the air-throughput rate of the gas pump. The dried air is mixed with another gas such as oxygen by means of a shut-off valve (16) from a cartridge (15).
