964,295. Pneumatic actuation of switches. COQ N.V. May 10, 1962 [May 12, 1961], No. 18086/62. Heading H2B. A circuit breaker 1 is actuated by a piston 6 sliding in a cylinder 5. Application of compressed air at 19b forces a piston 17 down to open a valve 12 admitting compressed air from source 13 to a cylinder 41 to release a stop 38 and, through a check valve 32, to force piston 6 downwards to close the breaker. As the piston 6 approaches the end of its travel it closes off a vented conduit 10, air from below the piston then escaping only through a small leak 37 in a second check-valve 36, causing a retarding action. A cam 55 closes a valve 47 in conduit 19b to prevent pumping of the piston. Application of compressed air at 22 forces a piston 21 up to open a valve 15 admitting compressed air through the check valve 36 to drive the piston 6 upwards to open the breaker. At the same time air is passed through a conduit 53 to a chamber 46 to close the valve 47 and prevent any attempt to reclose the breaker while the opening command persists. |
