PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing phosphonic esters by which the objective phosphonic esters are efficiently obtained according to simple operations with scarcely any side reactions or by-products. SOLUTION: This method for producing the phosphonic esters is characterized in that secondary phosphonic esters are reacted with an alkene compound in the presence of a transition metal catalyst.
